Lisa Walter studied Economics, Politics and International Studies (BA) at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom, and holds a Masters degree in Public Policy from the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin.
Her particular academic interest lies in economic development and public sector reform with a specific focus on the Middle East and North Africa.
In her Master Thesis, she analysed the ecosystem for entrepreneurship in the ICT sector in the Palestinian Territories and developed policy recommendations to create an environment enabling entrepreneurial activity. During the past years she complemented her theoretical knowledge with extensive work experience in the Arab region.

Amongst others she worked for the Private Sector Development Programme of the GIZ in the Palestinian Territories, the the market observation unit for the Middle East and North Africa of Germany Trade and Invest in Bonn and Ghorfa – Arab German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Berlin. Based on these experiences she has developed an intercultural sensitivity and a particular understanding of the Arab region, culture and language.
